CarbonClick

At Citizen Women we are passionate about our business, people and the planet! This is why we’re making an effort to use sustainable practices in every part of our business. We’ve teamed up with CarbonClick, a New Zealand company making it easy for people and businesses to help fight climate change.

CarbonClick looks like a green button at checkout. When you click it, a small contribution is added to your basket which purchases carbon offsets. These offsets reduce the environmental impact of the carbon emissions related to the purchase. CarbonClick’s offsets fund forest restoration, tree planting, and renewable energy projects around the world.

We’re proud to be part of the fight against climate change.

We’ll be making our own contributions, and changing our practices to reduce our carbon footprint. We hope you’ll join us in creating a sustainable future, by choosing to CarbonClick with your purchase.

We have signed the Climate Action Pledge below and we will keep you posted on our progress

 The Climate Action Pledge

CarbonClick is committed to helping businesses across the world embrace sustainable change, Becoming a CarbonClick Climate Friendly Business is about more than just offsetting our emissions, it is about changing the way business is done to protect our planet.

Remember, in order to save our world from climate change, we all have to do our part.

A CarbonClick Climate Friendly Business (that’s us) will commit to sustainability with the following actions.

1) Genuinely on a climate journey

Acting on climate action is good for people, planet AND business. You’re here because you understand that, and are genuinely on a sustainability journey that focuses on all the positive aspects... Not just profit.

2) Clarity is key

Lack of clarity on what your environment is a destructive force that prevents embarking on a climate journey. You’re pledging to gain clarity and knowledge about your environmental impact.

3) Understand your emissions

You pledge to embark on an fact-finding mission to understand your emissions. It doesn’t have to be fully accurate, but understanding the major sources of emissions is an important part of the journey, as it underpins further action.

4) Plan to reduce your emissions

With knowledge, understanding and clarity, you pledge to embark on a plan to reduce your environmental impact. Just like we cannot wish ourselves out of the problem, we cannot rely on a single tool to reduce our impact... Like offsetting or recycling. Your plan will include multiple climate action tools.

5) Tackle your emissions & celebrate reducing them

You agree to invest time, focus and money to start (or continue) taking action to reduce your emissions. We must all tackle emissions, as this is the crux of the problem. You’ll celebrate reducing your impact although you might not get enough recognition for it.

6) Don’t overclaim your impact

Yes, you’re amazing and are actively reducing and/or offsetting your emissions, but let’s be honest... It’s a huge job and only the most dedicated climate champions deserve the bragging rights. You pledge to not overstate your impact and will instead humbly acknowledge you’re participating in the climate action movement by referring to facts and actions.

We will keep you up-to-date with our next stages and steps at Citizen Women in our sustainability journey.

Thanks for coming on this journey with us!
